Windham
fabrics is proud to feature the Marie Webster Collection
inspired by the elegance and simplicity of this pioneering quilt
designer of the early 20th century.
Marie Webster was an influential quilt designer of the early
1900's and the first person to write a history of quilts. An
astute businesswoman, Marie, took her original floral appliqué
designs, and turned them into a thriving pattern company. Marie
submitted quilts which caught the eye of Edward Bok, the Arts
and Crafts editor of the Ladies Home Journal, and soon after in
the January 1, 1911 issue the magazine featured four of her
quilts. So it was the Ladies Home Journal that launched Marie's
quilt patterns into the mainstream quilt world.
Her designs were often inspired by nature and reflected her
belief that beauty should be combined with practicality. The
pastel coloration and unique rendering of repeat motifs lend an
inviting overall sense of unity to her quilts. Create your own
master pieces with this inspired collection of fabrics.
